Are You Reaching Your Freelance Earning Potential?

If you’re good at what you do-and have the right mindset-you can increase your income. There’s no secret formula. It just takes hard work and effective systems to handle the business of freelancing. Feel like you’re working harder, but making less? Then you need this course.

Veteran freelancer Debra Gordon, MS, who has been earning six figures for the past 16 years (through two recessions), will show you how to maximize your potential and your business and reach success. It will be fun and doable—regardless of the kind of business you run or how long you’ve been running it. Most important: what you learn will make a real difference. Not next year, but next month.

After completing this program, you’ll have:

  • The knowledge and skills to take your business to a successful enterprise that fulfills your career (and financial) goals.
  • Access to a private LinkedIn group for sharing tips, asking questions, and receiving long-term support for success.
  • Watch at your convenience! Watch over and over to reinforce the learning or when you just need a motivational boost.
  • An e-book of resources, tip sheets, and other tools for successful freelancing.
  • Discounts on one-on-one coaching.

Plus, registering for the course entitles you to an hour of one-on-one coaching for $200, a 30 percent discount. Take advantage of this offer to get your specific questions answered.

Class Schedule

The first hour of each class is devoted to teaching; the last half hour to your questions.

Here’s what you’ll learn:

1. What Business Are You In?
Before you can be successful in business, you have to understand what business you’re really in. In this session, you’ll conduct a SWOT analysis (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats) on yourself, develop a mission and goals, and write a business plan for the coming year (something even longtime consultants often ignore).

You’ll also learn about various business models, how to prepare a budget and track expenses, invoicing, setting up an office, contracts, and 20 other things you didn’t know you needed to know, including apps and programs to help you work smarter.

2. Getting All the Business You Want
Successful freelancers never have a slow period (unless they want one). In this session, you’ll learn the right way to get leads and then turn leads into cash customers. This session includes tips on getting the most out of social media – without feeling overwhelmed.

3. Getting Clients to Behave
Managing clients and workflow can be tougher than herding cats. In this session, you’ll learn how to make sure you stay in control, negotiate a fair fee, manage scope creep, and keep even the most, um, challenging clients happy.

4. Finding Work/Life Balance
It’s not easy but it is possible. Learn how to recognize the signs of burnout, how to plan for a real vacation, and even how to take a sabbatical—all without affecting your bottom line.

This course is open to newbies and experienced freelancers, no matter what your specialty. If you’ve only been thinking about freelancing, you’ll quit your job after the class. If you’ve been freelancing for years, you’ll have the best year of your career.

I'm a year into my freelance career, following wayyyy too many years toiling in the so-called conventional workplace. I benefited from Deb's sage advice. More than that, I got past my fear of taking the leap from employed to self-employed. If you get a chance to take Debra Gordon's advice, take it.

The one thing the course *really* kicked me in the butt to do was to take just the kinds of work I really love. I'm continuing to focus more on that and I think biz got better - I know I work with more zest!

Shortly after taking the course, I received a call from an established nonprofit client, asking me whether I was interested in bidding on a very complex technical project. I said yes, we talked further, I gave her two very large estimates (using different software), and four or five months went by. I then got an email message asking whether I had a contract we could use! So I sent her my 4-page detailed contract. We negotiated the price, they changed one word in the contract and sent me the one-third advance check. My husband and I have a 3-5 year series of projects and are making more than twice the income we were making before.

The course covered all the basics, at the level of depth I needed, to get my freelance business going two years ago. I felt that I could be successful if I took the action steps Deb recommended. Now I can say I’m satisfied with the level of income I’m earning, and I’m doing the kind of work I want to do.

The private LinkedIn group discussions are worth the price of admission, but there’s so much more. After taking your course, Deb, I found the courage to revamp my business and start doing the kinds of work I really love. As a bonus, I'm well on the road to my earnings goal! This is a great course for anyone aspiring to freelance success

I’ve been freelancing for over 20 years and didn’t think I would really learn anything new or useful from Debra’s webinar. Boy, was I wrong! Implementing just a few of her tips has improved my efficiency and allowed me to not only take on more clients but serve them much more effectively. I’m positive I’ll be able to reach six figures within the next year. -- Elizabeth Hanes, RN-BSN

The biggest thing I got out of the course was a push. A push to really think about what it is I want to be doing and how to do it. And most of all, not to keep quiet about it! I also loved that there was a sense of community and support within the course. This was something unique to Deb’s course. Anyone could list the do’s and don’ts (well, not anyone!) but Deb brought herself to the course. She was the voice of support that said, ‘hey this isn’t easy and not everyone can handle it all – all of the time.’ She brought her own personal stories to the course, which are still in my mind today. -- Allison Muller, Pharm.D.
